Breathe at BFI London

On the 5th of October 2017 we went to the BFI on the South Bank for the London Film Festival and specifically to see a new film called Breathe which only had its London premiere the night before.

The film itself follows the true life story of a man called Robin Cavendis, played brilliantly by Andrew Garfield, who while on a trip to Africa developed polio and was left paralysed from the neck down but I would  say the main character in the film was Robins wife,Diana played wonderfully by Claire Foy. This is a beautiful, moving and inspirational film about how even in the most challenging times in your life you can still get through and love will always be there in any situation to  make things better. Every thing about this film was top notch from the great acting, to the camera and lighting and just everything. This film inst trying to do anything new with cinema but is using the tried and tested techniques to tell an important story in a simple but beautiful way.

The real treat when seeing this film was actually after it ended as the producer and real life son of Diana and Robin called Johnathan came to tell us about it and answer a few questions. He has produced many Hollywood films before but it took him some time to realise that his family had a great story that would make a
great film.He said how most to all of the things that happened in the like a picnic/party while on holiday in Spain and his friends who helped him like one who made the prototype chair. This film was also the first feature length film that Andy Serkis directed and Johnathan wanted him to direct as they have been friends for a while  and he knew his story and mother Diana well.It was also nice to see how he was very proud of his film and being able to share this incredible story.
